The Perkiomen Trail is a linear park that passes through many communities and neighborhoods in the Perkiomen Creek valley. The trail allows users to travel through towns that grew and developed, in part, because of the railroad corridor. Major trailhead access points will provide parking areas, information and trail user amenities, and are currently being established in existing public parks or community centers.
Of course, anyone who is bicycling or walking to the trail on a public road will have easy access at those points. Any pedestrian-only access points will be carefully planned and coordinated with neighborhood associations, local municipal officials and adjacent landowners. Users must remember that much of the trail will pass private property and that they should always stay on the trail. Users should only leave the trail at access points that are clearly marked as a public place.
The trail will pass near several commercial establishments where various services such as restaurants, stores and other services are provided. Access to those commercial establishments is being explored with those owners and those access points will be clearly marked.
PERKIOMEN TRAIL RULES AND GUIDELINES
Park Rangers will regularly patrol the Perkiomen Trail to enforce park regulations and provide services to trail users. Trail rules and guidelines will be posted at all access points to help inform and direct users. The County Department of Parks wants to ensure the safety and comfort of all visitors and adjacent landowners.
The trail will be open during daylight hours. Park Rangers and other Department of Parks staff will be on the trail during public hours from dawn to dusk.
