Chester Valley Trail

Chester Valley Trail

Chester Valley Trail Map

The Chester Valley Trail will be a paved multi-use trail that will link the Schuylkill River Trail in Norristown to Exton and eventually to Downingtown in Chester County.  The trail is one of  sixteen listed in the Montgomery County Trail plan.  The overall vision of this plan is a network of trails throughout the county.

The Montgomery County portion of the Chester Valley Trail will take trail visitors from the King of Prussia area into downtown Norristown, the Montgomery County seat.  The 12-foot-wide macadam-paved trail will pass Warner Road, over the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76), past the old King of Prussia Inn (now the home of the chamber of commerce), over Henderson Road, across Route 202 and through the Borough of Bridgeport. It will cross the Schuylkill River on the Veterans Memorial Bridge (DeKalb Pike).

The trail is being designed and should be ready for construction in 2008-2009.  The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has completed a new section of the trail in King of Prussia, which includes a new bridge over the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76).  This section currently links Warner Road to the Bill Smith Boulevard and South Gulph Road.  This short section is open to the public.  Parking is available at the Park & Ride lot at Bill Smith Boulevard.

Montgomery County and Chester County are working jointly to extend the trail into Chester County.  Visit this Web site for further news.
