New Trail Development

Currently there are two small sections open, one in Chester County and one in Montgomery County.  Construction for the entire trail is planned for 2008-2009.

The 1.4-mile demonstration section in Chester County offers a relaxing route through the center of the county.  Plans to develop additional sections of the trail continue with Phase One, which will extend the trail from the Exton Park east to King of Prussia, and Phase Two, which will extend the trail west to Downingtown.  The trail is in various states of development, and we recommend you call the Chester County Department of Parks at 610-344-6415 before you access the trail.

Montgomery County is planning the eastern sections of the Chester Valley Trail for the connection between King of Prussia to Norristown and the Schuylkill River Trail.  The Montgomery County Commissioners opened a 1-mile section between South Gulph Road at the Park-n-Ride lot and Warner Road in May 2004.  This small section is particularly significant because it bridges the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76), allowing bicyclists and pedestrians who live in Tredyffrin and along Warner Road in Upper Merion to get to the King of Prussia Mall area.  Additionally, this new section will provide a very unique 1-mile recreation facility with spectacular views of the Schuylkill Expressway environs.  Final completion of the Montgomery County sections will coincide with the completion of the Chester County sections in 2008-2009.
