ABOUT THE TRAIL
The Perkiomen Trail (PT) is a 19 mile multi-use Trail extending from its connection to the Schuylkill River Trail (SRT) in Oaks in Upper Providence Township to Green Lane Park in Upper Frederick Township.  Most of the Trail is cinder and packed gravel surface, although in Oaks it is paved for a short distance from Indianhead to the Schuylkill River Trail (SRT).  The Trail serves as a regional access between Green Lane Park in Green Lane, Central Perkiomen Valley Park in Schwenksville and Lower Perkiomen Valley Park in Oaks and two very significant County historic sites, the Mill Grove National Historical Landmark in Audubon and Pennypacker Mills Historic Site in Schwenksville.

The Trail connects to the already existing 25 mile long Schuylkill River Trail (SRT), which is a part of the Schuylkill River State Heritage Corridor and the Federal River Heritage Corridor.

The easy grade makes the Trail accessible to families, the elderly, and all ability levels.  The Trail provides visitors with the opportunity to travel through some of the most beautiful scenic areas of the County.  Visitors will marvel at the abundance of Spring flowering trees, deep Summer shade, spectacular Fall colors, and open Winter vistas.

The Perkiomen Trail passes through a rich and varied landscape, including town centers, suburban landscape, and rural, remote areas.  Through its entire length, the Trail follows the scenic Perkiomen Creek.  Local residents can look forward to the development of new businesses to be developed along the Trail, including country inns, farm markets, restaurants, sports shops and other support facilities.  The Trail has provided an opportunity to preserve much of the old Reading Railroad right-of-way and to present the historical significance of the Railroad and the region to visitors from around the region, state and nation.
